The Catnip (Nepeta Cataria) is a plant similar to mint which contains the Nepetalactone: a natural substance similar to cat’s pheromones. Its effects include increased excitement and stimulation of play, euphoria and salivation even in older or sedentary cats that will react as if they have returned to pup- pies. The cat’s interest is activated through the sense of smell but, if ingested, Catnip also brings useful substances such as folic acid and vitamin b29. The Catnip is not dangerous; the effects last between five and ten minutes and are usually followed by a moment of relaxation.
